Exercise Week 1

Today I began with Rodney Ri and his yoga for beginners. Half way through, the youtube video just stopped. So I did plank pose for for...honestly...about ten seconds, then proceded to 20 crunches.
I had the idea of doing 20 crunches as part of each workout, and I hope to stick with that, increases the number of crunches as my strength builds. But for now, that number will do.

So, today was deffinately a rough start. I began with five minutes of slow walking to warm up, then went right into the jog. Within five minutes I was exhausted and dehydrated. I got some water and resumed the run. After about one minute, my stumach began to cramp from the water, so I took a five minute rest. Stepping onto the treadmill for the third time, I ran for five minutes...and was completely out of breath. So, I decided to do intervals of five minutes of jogging and five minutes and fast walking. And thus ended my first workout day. Looking forward to building more strength in the future!

Exercise

I am not a big exerciser. If I could avoid it, I would. But, I realize that is no excuse not to take care of my body and as hard as it may be now, the rewards are deffinately worth the struggle to get and keep in shape.
So...
My goal is to work out 3 times a week, then blog about it. This way I can keep myself on track.
I realize that as a child of God, is it my duty to take care of my body. My body is a gift, and I am its steward. It is ultimately God's, His tabernacle. And I want this tabernacle to shine with in fullest potential and beauty. By keeping it in shape, I am doing just that.

So, today, I am going to jog for thirty minutes. Out of shape, as I am, this will be a challenge. I pray that God will give me the grace to be patient with myself, and that He will encourage me to continue running when I get tired or discouraged.

Attached is a little clip where Jeff Jordan, physical fitness couch at Holy Wood Acting Studio, talks about the connection between spirit and body. I thought it was really cool.
